Paul Walker’s Daughter Meadow 21 Takes Selfie With Vin Diesel’s 3 Kids: Pic

Gambar
Fast & Furious family! Paul Walker's 21-year-old daughter, Meadow, posed for a picture with Vin Diesel's three children. Paul Walker: His Life In Photos "Family, forever," the California native captioned a Monday, June 29, Instagram photo. In the social media upload, Meadow smiled in a maroon hoodie while Hania, 12, Vincent, 10, and Pauline, 5, (named after Walker), smiled from behind her. The photo came seven months after Diesel, 52, wished his late costar's daughter a happy 21st birthday via Instagram. Fast and the Furious: Look Back At the Franchise "I could say that I am so proud of the person you are becoming… but the truth is I have always been proud of you. Happy Birthday Meadow," the actor captioned a November photo. "I know it's your 21st and you wanted to go big in Japan, but the family has a cake waiting for you when you get home, so hurry. Love you kid. Uncle Vin." Jorda

7 ETFs That Could Help You Send Your Kids to College

Gambar
College costs have been rising much faster than inflation over the past few decades. A study by LendingTree indicated that in-state public schools cost an average of $25,290 per year in the 2017/2018 school year, while private colleges cost a whopping $50,900. That works out to a total average bill across four years of somewhere in the neighborhood of $100,000 to $200,000 -- and that's before considering those faster-than-inflation cost increases. Price tags like that put a college education out of the range of most people's ability to cover via cash flows from their salaries. That means if you want to send your kids to college, you'll probably either need to save up a large chunk of the cost in advance or borrow the money. Borrowing money to pay for college brings its own set of problem

For 25 years, the House of Champions Martial Arts Academy in Van Nuys has prepared students to defend themselves from dangers that may lurk around any corner. I Want My Kids to Be Emotionally Intelligent Which Is Why I Need to Stop Cheering Them Up

Gambar
I recently lost a distant friend. When I learned of her death, I was immediately affected by it. It didn't matter that we were no longer close: I felt engulfed by her loss and wanted to cherish her memory. We sat around the dinner table that evening as a family of four and I shared the news. After dinner, I told my husband that I was just going to sit in our bed and try to read, but really, I just wanted time and space to feel sad. I was in my room for about ten minutes before my kids (5 and 7) started coming into the bedroom. They drew me pictures to help cheer me up. They climbed onto my bed and offered me Hershey's Kisses, hugs, and real kisses. While the gestures were sweet, I just wanted to sit in my grief and sadness. "Look, Mommy!" my daughter said. "Here's a funny face to make you smile!" "Thank you," I said. "But Mommy just wants to feel sad right now. You don't have to cheer me up." Related: 6 Strategies to Teach Your

'It's gone': What the loss of summer camp means for kids

Gambar
NEW YORK (AP) — It wasn't just the leadership opportunities or seeing his best friends or even escaping months stuck at home because of the coronavirus pandemic that had Rory Sederoff thinking 2020 would be one of his best summers ever. This would have been the Toronto teenager's 15th year at Camp Walden, a sleepaway camp in upstate New York where he has spent every summer since he was 3 months old. He had already started rehearsing the speech he was going to give at the end-of-summer banquet, and imagined the exact tree by the waterfront that he would pick to be named in his honor. For 14-year-old Rory, whose parents work at Walden, camp is where he feels most like himself — disconnected from screens and open to new opportunities. "This summer, I would do many things that I won't really be able to do again," he said. "It's a summer filled with opportunities that now won't happen. There's no way to get

Kids Clothier French Toast Pioneers a Pandemic-Era Necessity: The Socially Distanced Photo Shoot

Now that the United States has begun to reopen, apparel brands are hoping for the return of shoppers—and perhaps even permitting themselves to think optimistically about their autumn collections. After all, fall is just around the corner, and many shoppers start looking for chilly weather clothing as early as July. But as with so many other facets of business, the pandemic hasn't just changed shopping patterns but marketing, too. Few brands are feeling that shift as acutely as French Toast. As a maker of accessibly priced school clothes for kids, the 35-year-old label stakes much of its vitality on back-to-school shopping. And since parents will start thinking about school clothes in just a few weeks, now's the time to get the creative work done, since it's all scheduled to go live on June 30. The question was: Where do you even begin? Nobody's sure when kids will be heading back to school, much less what school's going to look like once they g

Jason Sudeikis & Seth Meyers’ Kids Star In Cut ‘SNL’ Sketch — VIDEO

Gambar
Studio 8H may be vacant due to COVID-19, but new Saturday Night Live sketches are still being produced — sort of. Jason Sudeikis and Seth Meyers' kids starred in a cut SNL sketch titled "Unicorn," which aired on Monday night. In the Second Chance Theatre segment for Late Night With Seth Meyers, Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde' children, Otis, 6, and Daisy, 3, and Meyers' children, Ashe, 4, and Axel, 2, resurrected a scrapped sketch penned by SNL writer Mike O'Brien about a unicorn with pink eye. Filmed across three different backyards due to quarantine, "Unicorn" also stars Sudeikis and O'Brien as a father and a unicorn caregiver, respectively. The sketch begins with Sudeikis as he gifts his four children their own pet unicorns during a birthday party. However, his dreams to give his children the perfect gift are ultimately shattered when the unicorns turn out to be "the nightmare of all gifts," per Meyers' narration. "Now I wasn'

Kensington Palace Just Released Three Adorable Photos of Prince William and His Kids for His Birthday

Gambar
Prince William is celebrating his 38th birthday today, which also happens to be Father's Day — and in honor of the very special occasion(s), Kensington Palace released the most adorable family photographs of the duke and his three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. In the unseen snapshots — taken by none other than Kate Middleton — Will and the young royals are all smiles as they play on the grounds of Anmer Hall, where the family has been self-isolating since lockdown. The first photo, which was shared a day early, William and the kids are all packed onto a wooden swing together, with George and Charlotte posing while standing up and Louis on Will's knee. "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new picture of The Duke with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ahead of The Duke's birthday tomorrow," the caption read. "The picture was taken earlier this month by The Duchess." On Sunday, two

Young activists protest racism police brutality in Grand Rapids ‘Kids March'

Gambar
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Some of West Michigan's youngest activists took to the streets of Grand Rapids Saturday morning to share their pleas for racial equality and police reform. The "Justice for Black Lives: Kids March" led families through downtown Grand Rapids and was followed by snacks, face painting and a dance party on Saturday, June 20. The protest was an opportunity for kids in Grand Rapids to take part in the nationwide protests against police brutality – but in a safe and friendly way. "We've had a lot of protests and rallies that are more adult focused, but they're not always the best place to bring their kiddos, especially 12 and under," said Rori Harris, co-leader for the event. "We felt it was important for them to be able to raise their voices and be apart of this history." For many families, the rally was an opportunity to teach their young children about systemic inequality in a kid-friendly way. Grand Rapids resident Susan Karanja

Jon Gosselin Praises Girlfriend Colleen Conrad For Bond With His Ex Kate’s Kids

Gambar
Although Jon Gosselin went through a bitter split with his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, he couldn't be more ecstatic and grateful for the relationship he has formed with his current girlfriend, Colleen Conrad. Jon and Kate split in 2009, and at the time, the former couple shared physical custody of their eight children, twins Madelyn and Cara, and sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Joel, and Alexis. However, the 43-year-old currently has custody of Collin and Hannah, who have a strained relationship with their mother.  On Wednesday, Jon shared a heartfelt Instagram post in honor of Conrad's birthday. "Happy Birthday to my best friend, lover, and companion!!! I couldn't have made it this far without you. I appreciate everything you have done for me and my kids!!! Love you to death!!!" Jon wrote in the caption. This isn't the first time that Conrad has won praise from someone in the Gosselin family. In May, Collin shared a lengthy Instagram post detailing the bo

Parents Believe Social Distancing Is Harming Kids’ Mental Health

Gambar
Many parents have expressed concern about the growing impacts of COVID-19 on children. They said that the lockdowns and forced isolation to manage the disease have been negatively affecting the mental and emotional health of kids.  A new Gallup survey shows nearly 3 in 10 parents in the U.S. said their child experiences mental or emotional problems due to social distancing and closures related to the coronavirus pandemic. The company interviewed more than 1,200 parents from May 11 to 24, the Hill reported Tuesday. Many respondents found it difficult to consistently follow some restrictions or safety measures despite the threats of COVID-19. Fourteen percent of the parents admitted they could only follow social distancing for "a few more weeks" because of its emotional or mental impact on children. Another 33 percent of parents said they will follow social distancing guidelines for "as long as is necessary" before their child experiences emotional or mental health pr

FDA approves first prescription video game for treating ADHD in kids

Gambar
The video game is called EndeavorRx and it's the first digital therapy approved by the FDA for improving ADHD symptoms. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has for the first time approved a video game for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children. The FDA said Monday the game built by Boston-based Akili Interactive Labs can improve attention function. The game, called EndeavorRx, requires a prescription and is designed for children ages 8 to 12 with certain symptoms of ADHD. It's the first time the FDA has cleared a digital therapy for improving ADHD symptoms, and the first time the agency has ever authorized marketing of a game-based therapy for any condition.

Brooks Laich Hopes to ‘Introduce’ His Future Kids to Hockey After Julianne Hough Split

Gambar
Keeping it in the family! Brooks Laich revealed he wants his love of hockey to be passed down to the children he has in the future following his May split from wife Julianne Hough. Brooks Laich and Julianne Hough's Honest Quotes About Their Relationship "I hope someday that I'm pulled back to the game," Laich, 36, explained on the Sunday, June 14, episode, of his "How Men Think With Brooks Laich and Gavin DeGraw" podcast. "Truthfully there's still so much I want to give." The former hockey star hasn't taken to the ice since his release from the NHL in 2017, but he hopes when he becomes a father that will change. "I spent 35 years trying to master excellence in this craft, and I don't want that to just die with me," the Canada native said. "I want to be able to pass that on." Laich noted that even if he doesn't become a dad, he hopes to share his knowledge with the next generation

Joe Blundo: So to Speak

Kids who have suffered what no kid should — abuse, neglect, other kinds of trauma — need counseling. And sometimes, they find it easier to draw their feelings than talk about them. So paper, pencils and crayons can be powerful tools. My favorite supplier of those tools is the Tom Fennessy/Mike Harden Back-to-School Project. For more than two decades, this all-volunteer charitable organization has been providing school supplies to kids whose families would struggle to afford them otherwise. In this most-unusual year, its work might be needed more than ever. And so I make my annual plea for donations and volunteers to help get it done once again. The project's main focus is providing backpacks filled with school supplies to thousands of kids so they can start a new school year with the essentials, just as their more fortunate peers do. This year the project has found an additional way to help. It is providing school supplies to Directions for Youth and Families (dfyf.o

Human remains found on Chad Daybell's property were of missing Idaho kids: Police

Gambar
The months-long search for Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan, two Idaho children last seen in 2019, officially ended Saturday after authorities confirmed the human remains found earlier this week belonged to the children. "It is with heavy hearts that we now confirm that those remains have now been officially identified as those of JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan," Rexburg police said in a statement Saturday. JJ and Tylee were last seen in September and were reported missing by extended family members to police in November. Their mother, Lori Vallow, and her husband, Chad Daybell, have been charged in the case. Vallow, 46, was arrested in February and is facing two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children and one misdemeanor count each of resisting and obstructing an officer, solicitation of a crime and contempt. Daybell, 51, was taken into custody Tuesday on two felony counts of destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence after

Angelina Jolie Discussed How She Talks to Her Kids About Racism

Gambar
Angelina Jolie is no stranger to change. She's worked as a Special Envoy of the High Commissioner for Refugees to bring attention to the challenges that refugees face around the world. With the current state of the world, which involves protestors everywhere fighting for racial equality, Jolie told Harper's Bazaar U.K. that she's sitting down with her family to discuss systemic racism and white privilege. She told the magazine that she sees people fighting for change as a positive, but she knows that it's going to be a process that involves major changes to major institutions. "It feels like the world is waking up, and people are forcing a deeper reckoning within their societies," Jolie said. "It is time to make changes in our laws and our institutions — listening to those who have been most affected and whose voices have been excluded." How Common Is The Asymptomatic Spread Of Coronavirus Among Kids?

Gambar
© lakshmiprasad S via Getty Images Asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 is an area of major interest — and confusion.  Asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 has been one of the greatest unknowns of the pandemic. It's also been a source of some pretty major controversy this week after an official with the World Health Organization said asymptomatic people "rarely" spread the virus — then immediately walked it back.  These are big, thorny questions, with profound public health effects. (Some people immediately used the World Health Organization claim to justify not wearing a mask or staying socially distant.) How often do people spread the virus when they don't have any symptoms? And how many of us may be walking around with the new coronavirus and never really know? Also, how do kids — sometimes called the "silent spreaders" of COVID-19 — fit into all of this?  Here's what scientists know (and don't!) about kids and asymptomatic spread of

How to keep kids and the elderly safe when Indiana reaches Stage 4 of reopening on Friday

Gambar
Governor Eric Holcomb gives COVID-19 briefing on Friday, May 1, 2020. Indianapolis Star Indiana is getting closer to fully reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, but Hoosiers will still need to take precautions. Gov. Eric Holcomb and Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box on Wednesday gave tips for how to keep kids and elderly people safe as the state moves to Stage 4 of its five-phase reopening plan. Stage 4, which begins Friday in much of the state, will allow playgrounds to reopen, potentially increasing the chance of children being exposed to the virus. Buy Photo Caution tape indicates that the College Park neighborhood playground is closed on March 31. (Photo: Kelly Wilkinson/IndyStar) "As parents I want to make sure that as you take your child back to the playground that you do have some continued precautions," Box said. She gave the following tips for parents: Carry hand sanitizer. Encourage children to wear masks. Encourage the

Kids Spent 100 Minutes Watching YouTube Last Month a 75% Jump From a Year Ago

Gambar
YouTube's dominance during coronavirus lockdowns has been challenged by TikTok, which has seen a 150% surge in usage compared to last May YouTube and TikTok have dominated the time kids spend watching content while sheltering in place, according to a new study from Qustodio, a software company specializing in parental control programs. In May, American children between the ages of 4-15 years old watched nearly 100 minutes per day on YouTube on average, according to the study — up 75% from the same time last year. Worldwide, the average comes to 85 minutes per day spent surfing YouTube. (It should also be pointed out YouTube positions itself as a video site for kids 13 and older — and even has its own spinoff YouTube Kids app dedicated to younger children. Still, kids seem to prefer original YouTube.) The spike in YouTube viewing is due, in large part, to the coronavirus pandemic; kids have both looked to YouTube to augment what they were learnin

Your kids can draw and build 3D stuff with this $35 3D pen

Gambar
I remember the first time I saw a 3D pen, back around 2012. I was blown away by the ability to create 3D structures just by extruding plastic filament through a handheld pen -- sort of like a glue gun on steroids. At CES that year, one company had made an enormously detailed 10-foot-high Eiffel Tower to prove how versatile its 3D pen was. I wanted one for myself, but I knew I wasn't creative enough to have anything worthwhile to print. Kids don't have that problem -- they're endlessly creative. Which is why Oaxis has a kid-friendly 3D pen, suitable for younglings age 4 and up. Right now, Oaxis is offering the myFirst 3dPen Dolphin to CNET readers for 30% off when you apply discount code CNET. Usually $50, the Dolphin is $35. If your kids are stuck at home
