How to keep kids and the elderly safe when Indiana reaches Stage 4 of reopening on Friday

Indiana is getting closer to fully reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic, but Hoosiers will still need to take precautions.
Gov. Eric Holcomb and Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box on Wednesday gave tips for how to keep kids and elderly people safe as the state moves to Stage 4 of its five-phase reopening plan.
Stage 4, which begins Friday in much of the state, will allow playgrounds to reopen, potentially increasing the chance of children being exposed to the virus.

"As parents I want to make sure that as you take your child back to the playground that you do have some continued precautions," Box said.
She gave the following tips for parents:
"COVID is still out there, so we still want you to be very careful and keep you and your family safe," Box said.
As for people 65 and older, the governor said they should remain cautious and limit exposure to others.
But Box said all Hoosiers can play a role in helping protect your older neighbors by wearing a face covering when outside.
"You wearing your mask helps to protect them," Box said.
She said Hoosiers over 65 should continue to order items online and have someone shop for them.
"No matter what your age, please continue to take precautions," Box said.
